MULTIPLY

Hey guys,

I am excited about sharing some helpful resources with you all. I am going to focus my REAL LIFE posts on resources in the areas of Faith, Family, and Worldview.

Some of my posts will be geared toward certain life situations such as marriage and parenting, but I will also highlight a lot of things that will be useful to everyone (such as the ones I am posting this week and the following month). I am starting off with some resources on sharing your faith and discipling others. It’s one of those things we all know we should be doing but most of us don’t feel equipped to do so, are afraid of messing it up, and/or don’t feel like it’s our place.

This week I want to share with you one of my favorite resources that I use for discipleship regularly: www.multiplymovement.com. This website centers around the book Multiply by Francis Chan. This is a book that was written as a discipleship tool designed for one-on-one or group discipleship, but can also be read by yourself. I have personally lead several people through this book and I am currently leading one of our high school students through this book.

 My hope is twofold:
1. That many of you work through this book yourselves as a way to strengthen your confidence in Biblical knowledge, so that you are better prepared to led others to Christ.
2. That many of you use this as a tool to disciple those around you (including your family).

Here’s what I like so much about this resource:

1. It’s free online ( www.multiplymovement.com). I have a couple physical copies of the book, but you can download a PDF of the book for free, read it chapter by chapter from your browser, or listen to it. They even have the PDF free in Spanish. You can also buy a hard copy of the book from Amazon or almost any book distributer.

2. It is a very easy-to-use discipleship tool. Whether you read through it by yourself or lead someone else through it, all you have to do is read the book (and Bible passages it suggests) and answer the simple questions as you go through the book. If you are leading someone else through it, you can simply talk about what is outlined in the chapter and/or go over the questions.

3. It is great for any stage of spiritual maturity. It challenges me every time I read it, but is also great for new Christians or even those who are still contemplating the decision to follow Christ. I do recommend it for high school students and older, but mature middle school students could handle it also.

4. The content is fantastic! It walks us through some core aspects of being a follower of Christ. Then leads us through the Old and New Testaments to help us to have a better understanding of the parts of Scripture, how the different parts fit together, and how everything leads back to Jesus.

5. The book is very easy to read. I am not a big reader but this book is one that you will not struggle to continue to pick up each week.

6. The book is comprehensive. The book is 336 pages long so it doesn’t skip over details. However, it is broken up into chapters that can be finished in one setting each. I do suggest only reading 1-2 chapters per week though because it is long and one chapter should give you plenty to think about for one week.

My challenge to you is check out the website, find someone to read through this book with you (mentor, family member, friend or someone you are personally discipling), and begin reading this book.

Blessings,
Pastor Chris
